About therapy

What to expect

The first step will be to have a free 15-minute video call to get to know each other and to give you a chance to decide if you think we’d be a good fit. We can also discuss your needs and preferences to ensure sessions are set up in the best possible way.

If you decide to book, I will send you a client intake form and a working agreement (see FAQs for more detail) ahead of the session for you to fill out, as well the video call link to the first full session.

In the first session we may talk about goals, preferences, experience of any other therapies you’ve had, if any, and generally get to know each other a bit. We can go at a speed that suits you.

Style & Modalities

I am trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic (how the past informs the present), humanistic (client-led, emphasising the individual’s capacity for growth), and CBT (practical, solution-oriented, aiming to break the cycle of negative thinking).

I work collaboratively with you, so every client’s sessions are unique, and they grow and change as your needs and goals do. For example, some people love research and practical activities, so if you’re one of those people then we can get stuck into that. Some people can’t stand anything that remotely reminds them of homework, and if that’s you then I promise we won’t even entertain the idea!
